Google Sites (JotSpot)
March 1, 2008 by easegill
The Jotspot wiki returned yesterday. It was bought out by Google some time back and has now returned as Google Sites. As with most things Google, it has a clean interface and easy to access options and set up. Also, Google specifically deny all ownership of the material you create.
To set up a site, you need a Google Apps account, not a common or garden G-account. Unusually, you can’t create an account with a gmail address and they seem to be wanting to relate sites to business’s or institutions. Either that or you buy your own domain name and register against that. Your account gives you access to another Google docs, calendar and talk instance which is divorced from any others that you might have under different covers. Haven’t had time to work out the impact of this but having just moved jobs there are still a lot of unknown unknowns to get to grips with and where this fits in is just another one!
